Beach Bag
For a day on the coast, you'll want to bring a bag specifically for carrying your beach things. That way, if the items you bring get damp or sandy (which is highly likely!), you won't have to worry about putting them in a treasured purse or backpack. I always look for beach bags that are colorful, lightweight, waterproof, and big.
Within the beach bag, consider wrapping valuables that you don't want to get wet (like wallets and cell phones) in ziplock bags for added protection!
Nourishment
Make sure to stick water and snacks in your beach bag! Nothing stinks more than getting settled and comfortable in the perfect beach spot and then having to leave because you're hungry or thirsty. Bring food and drinks with you in order to avoid losing your space! I recommend bringing protein-packed sandwiches and healthy sides, plus a good amount of bottled water.
Sun Protection
When you're relaxing on the beach, sun protection is incredibly important! Even if you're planning on tanning, you should make sure to apply sunscreen. Keep extra in your bag to reapply throughout the day! My other recommended protective purchases are polarized sunglasses, brimmed hats, and lightweight cover ups. If you're like me and you burn easily, then I recommend investing in an umbrella as well!
Something to Sit On
At the beach, some people like to sit directly in the sand, but I prefer having something to sit on. Your best options are a towel or a foldable chair. I personally prefer foldable chairs because they offer back and arm support, plus they keep you elevated above the sand. The best chairs, in my opinion, are the ones that have cup holders built into the arms!
Music
What's a beach day without your favorite tunes? Bring a waterproof speaker and queue up your favorite beach album or playlist to listen to while you hang out! Not sure what to play? You can't go wrong with summer favorites like The Beach Boys or Zac Brown Band!
